I'm going to do something else for a bit.
First of all, I missed another devlog and it's Friday already. Second of all, I barely did anything, except for working on the animations and preparing to do the combat system a bit. Third of all: It's time for the GMTK Game Jam 2024: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2024, I think the GMTK game jam is the biggest jam ever again! And this year it's super sized! Which is good because I don't have to crunch. It even said so in the announcement for the game and then the announcement for the theme. Although some people will probably just see it as even more time to crunch, but I still think I have a much better chance if I have four days instead of two. Although I did have much more time on my previous game jams and they still didn't come out as good as I wanted them to. But I do have much more free time right now. Also I changed my Itch.io username to IDoSomeStuff, which unfortunately made me spent a lot more time than I expected: You can see why in the Scale It page where at the bottom of the description I posted an update: https://idosomestuff.itch.io/scale-it (Scale It was a game I made for a previous jam, Game Off Game Jam 2023). Which is sad considering I should have started on the game jam already, and because I might change the username back. But I think it's fine. Also speaking of Game Off Game Jam 2023, it's theme was Scale. Now today (the day I'm writing this). The jam started (like a few hours ago). And the theme turned out to be: Built to Scale. Scale again? I'm not upset, it's just kind of funny. Although now it's just about a game mechanic, last time I could do anything as long as it involved Scale, like making a monkey SCALE a mountain, which is what I did. Back then I wasn't sure if that was a good idea and I wanted to add some game mechanic revolving around scale but I wasn't fast enough. Now though its good, because now I don't have to make a second game with a mechanic involving scale, which would be boring because I would have done it already. Basically it's good that I didn't do scale as a game mechanic but instead as a concept last time. Anyways, I'll still probably publish a devlog, although it might be late again, and there'll probably won't be anything new added to HeartRuin by that time. Maybe I'll do another FAQ like post again. Although hopefully it won't take as much time to write. Unfortunately I didn't as much progress on HeartRuin as I wanted to this summer. So I decided to just relax, still work on HeartRuin but its not necessary to make myself work on it when I don't want to, and now I have time to this jam. But something good this jam might do for HeartRuin is that it might attract some people to look at this game. Especially if I get a high enough place. But now I really need to go start working it's been about 3 hours since the jam started, some people are probably already done with their basic mechanics. So yeah!!!
